Have a question about Hack The Oak?
A hackathon is an event where individuals or teams work on technical projects in a short period of time (in this case, 15 hours but are usually 24-36 hours). With the help of workshops and mentors you can build an app, a website, a robot—the possibilities are endless!
A device, internet connection and enthusasum. Thats all! Hack The Oak is beginner friendly! We have introductory workshops tailored to first-time hackers and a unique program to help assimilate all our hackers. If you want to fine tune your skills, join our community of learners on Discord.
This year, Hack The Oak will run virtually and use platforms like Discord and Google meets. We will provide more details on how to participate as we get closer to the date. Join our discord and follow our intagram to keep up with the latest information.
Hack The Oak is a 15 hour long Hackathon that will be taking place on the 21st of December from 8am-11pm Online on Discord and Google meets. To launch students careers in technology and allow them to meet like minded peers while learning real world skills they can be able to apply in the real world(while also winning a few bucks 😉)
All workshops, activities and events will be taking place via Zoom and livstreamed to our YouTube channel. Meetings links will be shared via Discord.
The latest you can submit a Project on DevPost would be the 21st of december at 10:59pm, but make sure to check the event schedule to stay up to date on important hackathon deadlines and everything you need to know about what’s going on throughout the weekend! Announcements and reminders will also be broadcasted on the Discord server in case you forget.
Your project will be submitted through Devpost. Click on the Submit Project button at the top of the site to access the Devpost. Your submission must include a description or a video (no longer then 2 min) that showcases your project, a basic description of your project, and the challenge(s) you over came when developing it.
Teams can consist of 1-5 hackers. You can form a team before the hackathon, and there will be Team Formation events prior to the event. We highly encourage that advanced hackers bring on beginner hackers to mentor throughout the event. Once a team is formed just add the names of the hackers to the devpost as contributors.
Nope, it’s free!!
